Loon Area Christian Ministry

WEDDINGS

A word from Skip about weddings...

Marrying people is one of the most enjoyable parts of my ministry. It's not just the service itself, but the opportunity to get to know the couple during the four 1.5 hour pre-marital counseling sessions. The purpose of these sessions is NOT to determine whether or not a couple should be married. Instead it's done for two reasons: the first is to provide them with information to get started off on the best foot possible. Regardless of how well two people know each other, you'd be amazed at the insights and understandings that come when they open themselves up to an experienced counselor. Secondly, these sessions give me a chance to know the future bride and groom so that the ceremony itself is personal and meaningful. I don't do "canned" services.

Most of the people I marry are from away, so I try to remain flexible regarding the scheduling of the pre-marital counseling sessions.

I only do one wedding a day, so if you're reading this because you're thinking of asking me to "do the honors", please reserve the date as soon as possible.

Oh yes, finances. Most ministers receive a personal gratuity for their services; I don't. Instead, since the average wedding takes ten to fifteen hours of my time, I ask that a donation of $300 be made directly to our ministry.

The same mountain top amphitheater that hosts our worship services also provides the breath-taking backdrop for weddings.

For reservation requirements and costs, contact Loon's wedding coordinator, Abby Guinan at 603-745-6281 x5539, aguinan@loonmtn.com. Loon's web address for weddings is here. To contact the Mountain Club Hotel at Loon, contact Kellee Pfeuti at 603-745-2244 x.5271, kpfeuti@mtnclub.com. Their website is here. Both Loon Mountain and the Mountain Club Hotel have facilities to host the rehearsal dinner and reception.

Anyone can officiate at a wedding on Loon Mountain--it doesn't have to be me. If you already have an officiant in mind, don't hesitate to use the contact information above to make the necessary arrangements. In addition, if you'd like a list of JP's in the area, either Kellee or Abby or I can provide you with one.
